Polaroid Corporation was an American multinational, founded in 1937 by Edwin H. Land and specialized in photography. The Polaroid Corporation originally patented and manufactured a special sheet of plastic material used to polarize light. All Polaroid sheets are used in liquid crystal displays, optical microscopes and sunglasses. The first collection of Polaroid sunglasses was designed by the Italian-Australian designer Carla Zampatti in the 1970s.
