As the name implies, Desigual is not a clothing brand like any other. And those who pass through Barcelona, the headquarters of the parent company, hardly resist the temptation to make at least a stop in one of the countless and colorful shops scattered in almost all the neighborhoods. In Ibiza, in 1983, 20-year-old Swiss Thomas Meyer, now president of a small empire, sells hand-painted T-shirts in the hippy market. Creative and full of ideas, the chico starts making jackets made from stock of old jeans. The first of the “rebel fashion” pieces is a bomber-style jacket, baptized with the name of Desigual, a mix of floral patterns, bold colors and lots of patchwork.
